Senior Art Exhibition 2020

Augustana College Senior Art Exhibition

This virtual exhibition features the Senior Art Inquiry projects of graphic design, art history and studio art majors in Augustana’s Class of 2020.

Works range from ceramic pottery and portrait paintings to fantastical digital illustrations and a handbound comic book.

Artist Ali Muksed created two new Arabic fonts “that represent the identity, diversity and culture of the two Arabic-speaking countries.” About creating his typefaces, Baghdad and Arabia, Muksed said in his artist’s statement:

“When I began to address the problem of underrepresentation in the Arabic typography, I did not grasp how fonts are made but I knew my liberal arts education at Augustana prepared me for solving such a problem.”

Each student’s work is accompanied by a statement sharing their perspective and intentions. The work in this exhibition was created as a culmination of their classes and individual development as artists and graphic designers.

Enjoy the show!
