Move-in dates, information for returning students
July 16, 2020
Returning students can move into their residence halls and Transitional Living Areas (TLAs) Aug. 28-30 by appointment.
Students should log in to housing.augustana.edu to make an appointment.
Each student may bring two helpers to assist with move-in. Everyone must wear masks at all times.
Hall desks will be open from 8 a.m. to midnight daily. Wear a mask when checking in.
Returning international students may return beginning Aug. 26 without scheduling an appointment, or by appointment Aug. 28-30.
Domestic students flying in may return Aug. 27 without an appointment, or by appointment Aug. 28-30.
Students who are approved to arrive early, such as athletes, student staff and activity fair participants, do not need to schedule an appointment and will receive move-in instructions from their coaches or advisors.
Elective early arrival
Returning students may come to campus before their approved arrival days for a fee of $50 per night beginning Aug. 23 and do not need to schedule an appointment.
The first meal served in the dining hall will be lunch on Sunday, Aug. 30.
Students are asked to bring at least three washable masks, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and a personal thermometer — and to pack light. Focus on bringing only the necessities, to be ready to relocate or return home on short notice, if needed.
Students will receive a welcome kit with additional masks, a thermometer, a face shield, water bottle and a small container of hand sanitizer when they arrive on campus.
Note: Students living in a deluxe room with a private bathroom (such as Swanson or the Flats) will be responsible for cleaning their own bathrooms. Plan to bring the necessary cleaning supplies with you.
TLA residents should plan to bring some additional supplies. In addition to the items needed for living in a residence hall, TLA residents should bring a bath mat, cleaning supplies (TLA students are responsible for cleaning their own bathrooms), and cooking and dining utensils.
Email or call the Office of Residential Life, 309-794-2686, for more information. The office is open from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays.
Rental properties for seniors
Juniors should start thinking about rental properties for senior year. About 75% of students sign a lease between September and December of their junior year.
The Office of Residential Life recommends the Places 4 Students rental property search, and there will be landlord fair in September. Students are encouraged to consider several properties and talk to at least three landlords before making a decision.
