John Holman

River Readings: John Holman

Novelist, short-story writer and essayist John Holman will read from his work. He teaches writing and directs the creative writing program at Georgia State University.

Holman has published in many magazines and journals including The New Yorker, Oxford American, Paste, and the Mississippi Review. He is a recipient of the prestigious Whiting Writers Award.

He received a B.A. in English from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, an M.A. in English from North Carolina Central University, and a Ph.D. in English and creative writing from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Holman has taught at several institutions, including North Carolina Central, St. Augustine’s College, and the University of South Florida. He currently teaches writing and directs the Creative Writing Program at Georgia State University.
