45th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade
January 2018 marks the 45th anniversary of the United States Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision on the issue of the constitutionality of laws that criminalized or restricted access to abortions.
There will be a commemoration from 4:30-7:30 p.m. hosted by the Department of Women's and Gender Studies and Augustana Teaching Museum of Art. The reception begins at 4:30, speakers at 5, and art giveaway at 7 p.m.
On Jan. 22, 1973, the court ruled 7–2 that a right to privacy under the Due Process Clause of the 14th Amendment extended to a woman's decision to have an abortion.
