"Herbarium Tales" and "Witness" opening reception

An opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. for the new exhibits at the Augustana Teaching Museum of Art: "Herbarium Tales" and "Witness." Curators will speak at 6 p.m.

"Herbarium Tales" is guest curated by Dr. Rafael Medina, assistant professor of biology. It features scientific specimens of the herbarium of Augustana, and invites the visitor to explore the intersections between the study of plant biodiversity, art, and the history of the college.

What does it mean to bear witness to something? "Witness" considers what it means to "bear witness" to something, and considers that question through works from the Augustana Teaching Museum of Art’s collections and the first-person stories of The Great Quad Cities Listen, a WVIK project. It is curated by museum director Dr. Claire Kovacs.

The exhibits will run through Feb. 10.
