In this talk, Dr. Renaud will dispel popular linguistic myths and analyze the frequency with which stigmatized dialectal properties are attested from a sociolinguistic perspective.. Additionally, the gendered nature of the Spanish grammar itself will be addressed in order to explore how linguists and sociolinguists have approached such issues from today’s decreasingly binary, heteronormative perspective.
