SPACES premiere
Tony Oliver, associate professor of music at Augustana, will perform the world premiere of James Romig's "SPACES" composition for solo vibraphone.
Romig is a professor of music composition at Western Illinois University in Macomb. Romig's "STILL," a composition for solo piano, was performed at the Figge Art Museum in 2018 and was recognized as a finalist for the 2019 Pulitzer Prize.
During the Figge's world premiere of "SPACES, " audience members may sit or walk in the galleries.
In addition to teaching, Oliver is a clinician and adjudicator for percussion events, and is involved in the New Horizons Music program for older musicians. In addition to performing with the Quad City Symphony Orchestra, Oliver is the solo percussionist and timpanist for the Lake Placid Sinfonietta, and various other chamber and solo engagements.
