Pizza and Purpose: Xong Sony Yang, 'Rebelling by Asking Why'
Growing up in a traditional Hmong family and the daughter of refugees, Xong Sony Yang learned to rebel by asking why. She was the first in her family to go to college. Four years later, she was the first to go back to college (on a different career path), and then the first to go to graduate school.
Looking back now, she knows that early experiences serving as an interpreter for her family opened career opportunities, including as the beloved director of Augustana's Office of International Student and Scholar Services, where she teaches students to ask why.
Hear Xong Sony narrate her life's path, which will help you carve your path as well!
