Global Spotlight: Nepal

The Augustana community is made stronger by its international student population and is committed to fostering a community where every student feels welcomed and supported. In light of currently developing events in Nepal and the difficult situation that Augustana’s large Nepali student population is in, OISSS and the Nepali Student Association (NSA) are co-hosting Global Spotlight: Nepal.

Global Spotlight: Nepal is a program designed to provide educational context about current events in Nepal, their impact on Nepali and other members of campus, and to bring the community together in dialogue and learning.

Moderated by OISSS and organized in collaboration with the Nepali Student Association (NSA), this Global Spotlight will feature Augustana Professor Rajan Bishwakarma, a panel of Augustana students, as well as Nepali scholar Aarya Dhital, a law student at Kathmandu University. Rajan and Aarya will offer historical and current context, while Nepali students will share their perspectives.

This event is open to all faculty, staff and students, and is an opportunity for our campus to come together in learning, reflection, and community support.  The event will take place on Monday, Oct. 13, from 5-6 p.m. in the Olin Auditorium.
