Campus emergency drill on Tuesday, Oct. 3

On Tuesday, Oct. 3, the campus will have an emergency drill, with a focus on evacuation.

The drill will take place sometime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and will last approximately 20 minutes. Typically, exact details aren't provided because the Police and Public Safety wants to mimic real-life scenarios as much as possible. However, this can create challenges around planning classes and activities, so the team works with the Registrar office to pick dates and times that will minimize this impact. Augustana takes an "all hazards" approach to emergency planning and response. Rather than plan for specific scenarios, the Police and Public Safety team practices the basic actions they may ask the community to take during an emergency so everyone can be as prepared as possible for anything and everything.
