Dr. Adam Kaul: Using the past for modern purposes

Augustana's Dr. Adam Kaul is a socio-cultural anthropologist whose research focuses primarily on the social impacts of tourism.

Dr. Kaul gave the 2016 O. Fritiof Ander Lecture in Immigration History on how tourism and clean energy have impacted the small Swedish-American village of Bishop Hill, Ill. The lecture is a part of a larger book project.

The Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center's O. Fritiof Ander Lecture in Immigration History is presented annually by a prominent scholar in the field of immigration studies.

Dr. O. Fritiof Ander taught history at Augustana College from 1930-1968. He was a pioneer and leading name in immigration history and the author of numerous books and articles in the field.
