Faculty proposals for study away programs

The International and Off-Campus Programs Committee (IOPC) invites faculty proposals to develop new credit-bearing off-campus programs that take place in January, May-June or summer during academic year 2026-2027. In addition, IOPC also invites faculty who have led or taught in a previous off campus program to propose a renewal of that program.

Submit your proposal documentation to the Director of International and Off Campus Programs (IOP), Dr. Steven Duke by April 18, 2025. Applications will be reviewed by the IOPC.

Discovery and Rediscovery Grants

Funding is also available for faculty who wish to visit a location for a new program ("discovery grant") or a renewal program ("rediscovery grant").

• The Discovery Grant provides financial support to faculty who are interested in introducing a travel component to an already existing class or developing a study abroad/away course for the January or June/summer programs. The grant enables interested faculty to travel to potential locations to explore relevant sites and identify local partners that could contribute to the academic success of the proposal. The total available funding for Discovery Grants is $20,000. The maximum award amounts are $3,000 (for international trips) and $1,000 (for domestic trips).
• The Rediscovery Grant is focused on providing financial support for faculty who have already led or taught in a study away program and who want to revisit previous destinations in order to implement significant changes to already existing programs, or who would benefit from a visit that would enrich learning goals and/or acknowledge local changing circumstances. Eligible applicants are faculty who are leading study abroad/away programs currently or led them in the past. The total available funding for Rediscovery Grants is $10,000. The maximum award amounts are $3,000 (for international trips) and $1,000 (for domestic trips).

How to apply

Submit your Discovery or Rediscovery Grant documentation to the Director of International and Off Campus Programs (IOP), Dr. Steven Duke. Applications will be reviewed by the IOP Committee.

Review of submissions will start on March 21, 2025, and will continue until available funds are depleted.
