Guitar lessons for academic credit
Guitar lessons for academic credit are open to all students regardless of major.
Lessons are offered in the fall and spring semesters of the school year. Students at all skill levels are accepted, beginning through advanced.
Lessons are one-on-one with the instructor, not in a group class. You will need to have your own instrument. There are a limited number of rental guitars available from the instructor and a local music shop.
Students learn to develop proper technique habits and how to apply their music reading skills to the guitar. Scales, chords and other technique exercises are studied with both strumming and finger-picking used for chords. Students enrolled for 1 credit will have a 30-minute lesson one day a week and for 2 credits you will have a 60-minute lesson one day per week.
Lesson times are arranged according to the student's schedule. Lesson length and frequency for anyone enrolling for more than 2 credits will be arranged between student and instructor.
Registration is for MULS 100-400-GTR and is done through Arches. See the academic calendar for exact dates of registration and adding classes. Lessons do not cause an overload of credits. Lessons are held at the music annex, 3816 6th Ave.
