Live streaming connects Augustana community
Augustana’s Tribe of Vikings purchased new equipment this year for streaming live athletic events, including a high-definition camera plus on-screen graphics and instant replay.
In the absence of spring athletics due to the coronavirus pandemic, the equipment now is being used to keep the Augustana community connected—by providing updates and broadcasting events to Vikings around the country.
On April 8, Kent Barnds, executive vice president of external relations, shared a live campus update to alumni and friends, along with a Q&A. Later this month, members of the Class of 2020 will have the chance to tune in for a live update from campus, as they wrap up their Augie experience.
The college will continue the tradition of Last Lecture and Senior Toast via live streaming on May 7. A shortened commencement ceremony also will be live-streamed on May 23.
