Robert Krulwich

Augustana College will host a lecture by Robert Krulwich, co-host of the award-winning NPR science program, "Radiolab," on Wednesday, April 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Olin Auditorium (733 35th Street, Rock Island). The lecture, "Talking Science to Non-Scientists: Saddam Hussein's Secret Octopus and Other Stories," is made possible by the Lawrence H. Roys Endowment. Admission is free and the public is invited.

NPR describes "Radiolab" as "a show about curiosity, where sound illuminates ideas, and the boundaries blur between science, philosophy and human experience."

In addition to the broadcasts carried on 437 NPR radio stations, Krulwich is a science correspondent who writes "Krulwich Wonders," an NPR blog that illustrates complex scientific ideas.

Krulwich also has worked for ABC, CBS and Pacifica. His work has appeared on ABC's "Nightline" and "World News Tonight," as well as PBS's "Frontline," "NOVA" and "NOW with Bill Moyers."

The Lawrence H. Roys Endowment at Augustana College honors the memory of Lawrence Roys as an engineer, businessman and nationally acclaimed natural scientist. Throughout his lifetime, Roys frequently presented lectures at Augustana on his studies of Mayan architecture in Central America. The Roys Endowment funds lectures by visiting scholars in the field of natural science.
