Softball player Jennica Soliz '24 gets another shot at a senior season
Senior Jennica Soliz, a psychology major from Moline, Ill., remembers her last softball season in high school which was cut short due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"I remember my last day of school and going home and receiving a text message that we won't have practice and going on to spring break, and we just never returned," Soliz recently told WQAD News 8.
WQAD shares Soliz's story, including her time working with Augustana coach John Nelson, who was coaching at Rockridge High School in 2020. He told the station he is encouraging seniors to make the most of their season.
"I'm saying 'soak it all in man, you get a senior season.' Soak it all in, and take the time to look around, see what you got here and just be happy about it," Nelson said.
