Spring 2015 Academic All Americans
Following another successful year in the classroom and on the track, the Augustana Vikings had three senior student-athletes repeat as Academic All-America selections.
On Tuesday, the College Sports Information Directors of America released the list of spring Academic All-America honorees. Runners David Devore and Becca Sund earned recognition for the second straight year, while David Voland landed a spot on the AAA list for a third straight year.
Voland, from Batavia, Ill., graduated Augustana with a 3.83 GPA and a degree in math and secondary education. Devore, from Midland, Mich., had a 3.68 GPA and a degree in math and computer science. Both men ran legs on the Vkings' 1,600-meter relay team, which won the NCAA Division III National Indoor Championship in March.
Sund, from Palatine, Ill., graduated with a 3.97 GPA and like Voland, a degree in math and secondary education. She had the Vikings' best times in the 3,000 (indoor) and 1,600 (outdoor). In April, Sund anchored Augustana's winning 6,400 relay at the Norse Relays and anchored the Vikings distance medley relay that finished 12th in the College Division at the Drake Relays.
