Statement on Augustana College's 2025 Wall Street Journal ranking

Update on Wall Street Journal Rankings
Nov. 21, 2024
Yesterday the Wall Street Journal named Augustana College in its Top Midwestern Colleges by Size list. We believe this recognition is in error and related to the September rankings error. Any validated communication about the college’s rankings will be issued by the Office of Communication & Marketing and published on the college’s news site.

Last week, the Wall Street Journal released its 2025 list of Best Colleges in America, ranking Augustana College 37th in the country.

We have reviewed the data included in the Wall Street Journal ranking of Augustana, and we do not believe that the ranking is accurate. Data-reporting errors most likely led to Augustana's rise and the difference between our rankings for 2024 and 2025. We have alerted the Wall Street Journal and will work with the necessary parties to correct the information.

While this is disappointing, we believe it is important for us to place transparency and accuracy above anything else.

We are still immensely proud of Augustana College. We are doing awesome work here. Our focus on student success, accessibility and preparing career-ready graduates cannot be questioned, and we truly believe that the reason so many of the Augustana faithful were excited by this ranking is because they believe it affirmed what they know and love about Augustana College.
