Tracking Davenport history through household objects
Jordan Kirkbride '14 knows each and every object in the Colonel Davenport House on Arsenal Island.
Although nothing in the home is original to Col. Davenport or his family, volunteers worked over the years to furnish the house with items of the same time period.
Kirkbride , an art history major, spent a year and a half researching all the objects, from a Limoges china tea set to a buffet in the dining room. She produced a booklet titled "Furnishings of the Colonel Davenport Home." And, she and her faculty adviser, Dr. Catherine Carter Goebel, donated an 1840 sewing table, an item known to have been in the home during the colonel's time.
