Upcoming closures on 7th Avenue

Due to maintenance on the footbridge that leads to Brunner Center, a portion of 7th Avenue will be closed starting on Tuesday, June 27.

The City of Rock Island will close 7th Avenue between 38th Street and the entrance to the Centennial/Bergendoff parking lot (lot E). Travel delays can be expected at or near this location. Pending favorable weather, the anticipated date of completion and resumption of normal traffic will be the end of the day on Monday, July 3. Please follow all posted signs for detour directions as needed.

Vehicle and pedestrian traffic will need to be aware of the following: 

• Traffic will not be able to turn west onto 7th Avenue from 38th Street.
• Eastbound traffic on 7th Avenue will not be able to access the 7th Avenue entrance to the Centennial/Bergendoff parking lot or the intersection of 7th Avenue and 38th Street.
• No pedestrian traffic can cross under the footbridge on 38th Street or 7th Avenue.

During this construction, the campus community is encouraged to use the 5th Avenue entrance between Carver P.E. and Knowlton Stadium to access the Centennial/Bergendoff parking lot.
