It begins with your Success Team – your individualized, customized support network of professionals on campus. Over time, your Success Team will change along with your goals and needs.

Here’s just one example of how far we go to ensure your success: athletic mentors for athletes in every sport!

Your friends and campus community are a big part of your support system, too. You won’t know all 2,500 students or join all 170+ student groups and activities, but we guarantee you will find your people at Augie, and many of them will be by your side beyond graduation.

Plus, the campus vibe is incredibly friendly. Yes, the work is challenging, and yes, we are serious about success — but Augustana likes to have fun.

At Augustana, Tristan took part in theatre, improv and the Alpha Sigma Xi fraternity, with a double major in business administration and theatre (runs in the family: he’s a nephew of actor Bob Odenkirk). This combination of majors made him what he calls “a unique asset in any business setting.”

Today Tristan is a relationship banker at Wintrust Financial Corporation in Chicago.

Learning in the world

This is the college where you take your curiosity, creativity, intellect and skills out into the world and use them. Isn’t that the ultimate goal? That’s also the beauty of experiential learning, or learning by doing, which is what Augustana is all about.

Through our innovative Augie Choice program, every student has funding for an internship, study-abroad experience or faculty-led research or creative project. You choose the experience based on your personal and professional goals.

Hands-on learning happens in your courses and off-campus experiences, working with mentors. Your career coach in CORE is one of your earliest connections in your career network. Other important connections will be your professors, internship advisors, research partners and accomplished alumni working in your field(s).

Here’s Maitreyi Shrikhande ’26, a neuroscience and biology/pre-med major, telling you about her summer research internship at the Texas Medical Center in Houston, the world’s largest medical complex. At TMC, she happened to work in a lab with an Augie grad.

Opportunities, skills and confidence: you’ll have it all, and they build on each other. You also might be one of the 50% of Augustana students with a double or triple major. You will have the support you need and the opportunities to explore interests, and that’s how it happens. 

The beauty of a double major is that it expands your options (and knowledge) for the future. And yet it’s not so common at other schools.
