Socratic Society of Augustana (Philosophy Club)
Whether you love philosophy or just want to see what it's like, the Socratic Society of Augustana is for you.
S.S.A. members discuss intellectually rigorous, philosophical ideas at weekly meetings. We encourage all students, no matter their major or background, to freely and respectfully engage with topics ranging from "What is knowledge?" to "Should you harvest one person’s organs to save many others?" We are always excited to hear new perspectives, so don't hesitate to contact a student board member or Dr. Deke Gould if you are interested!
We design the club to be friendly and accessible for everyone, so all meetings and readings are optional, and no preparation is required to attend. The S.S.A. meets Thursdays at 7:30 pm in Old Main's second-floor Philosophy Forum (the room with the big, stained-glass windows).
