2024 Francophone Film Festival begins Feb. 20

The annual Francophone Film Festival at Augustana will screen a film each Tuesday from Feb. 20 to March 19.

All films are free and open to the public. Films begin at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Olin Center on campus.

Films are presented by Augustana College World Languages, Literatures and Cultures Department, the Office of Student Life, Student Life Programming and Multicultural Programming Board.

Feb. 20: Magnetic Beats (2021)

A group of friends yearning for excitement in the early 1980s broadcast a free radio station from their hometown in Brittany, France. When called for military service, Philippe has no choice but to leave for West Berlin. He's determined to keep on broadcasting but realizes that he just lived the last glorious moments of a world on the verge of extinction.

Feb. 27: Peter Von Kant (2022)

Peter Von Kant, a successful, famous director, lives with his assistant Karl, whom he likes to mistreat and humiliate. Through the great actress Sidonie, he meets and falls in love with Amir, a handsome young man of modest means.

March 5: Wingwomen (2023)

However their employer is not so keen to let them quit.

March 12: Saint Omer (2023)

A young novelist Rama attends the trial of Laurence Coly, a woman accused of killing her 15-month-old daughter by abandoning her to the rising tide on a beach in northern France.
