Academic skills workshops for fall semester
The Learning Commons offers free academic skills workshops for students each semester.
Students who would like to improve their study skills are invited to any or all of the workshops.
All workshops are held in Gävle Room 1, Gerber Center. Here is the fall semester lineup:
Starting Strong: Time Management for Fall Semester
Tuesday, Sept. 20, 4-5 p.m.
Starting Strong focuses on essential skills needed to begin the semester strong. This workshop covers time management strategies that help you become more organized, less stressed, and more balanced. Learn strategies to create a schedule and use your time as productively as possible.
Staying Strong: Self-Advocacy and Resilience
Wednesday, Oct. 12, 4-5 p.m.
Staying Strong focuses maintaining your momentum throughout the semester. This workshop discusses your student rights, responsibilities, how to advocate for yourself, how to identify resources on campus, and how to become a more resilient student in the face of challenges.
Staying Strong: Study Strategies
Tuesday, Nov. 15, 4-5 p.m.
Starting Strong covers study strategies to help you maximize the time spent studying so that you can more easily recall the information later and be more successful in your courses.
Finishing Strong: Finals Prep
Tuesday, Dec. 6, 4-5 p.m.
Finish Strong focuses on essential skills needed to finish the semester strong. This workshop is ideal for students interested in learning more efficient and productive ways to prepare for final exams. Learn how to create a study plan, refine your study and test-taking strategies, and reduce test anxiety.
