The Augustana Flute Choir is a chamber ensemble of flutists which makes use of the entire flute family: piccolo, flute, alto flute and bass flute.

Founded by Janet Stodd in 1988, the ensemble performs concerts under her direction every term, both on and off campus.

Favorite performances include the annual Joy of Christmas event in Andover, Illinois, and the annual St. Patrick's Day Concert. The Augustana Flute Choir has performed at the Iowa Flute Festival and the IMEA festival in Peoria, Illinois.

The ensemble rehearses once a week. Students can register for either credit or noncredit. The Flute Choir usually includes 12 flutists who also take lessons and perform in band or orchestra.

Augustana's Jenny Lind Vocal Ensemble, directed by Dr. Michael Zemek, will collaborate with high school choirs from Davenport Central, Davenport North and Pleasant Valley High Schools to perform "Anne Frank: A Living Voice" on March 4 at 5:30 p.m.

Augustana Choir to tour Nebraska, Colorado and Kansas in March

The Augustana Choir, under the direction of Dr. Jon Hurty, will perform concerts in Nebraska, Colorado and Kansas March 22-28, followed by a home concert on April 5 in Davenport.

Symphonic Band Sesquicentennial Celebration Weekend

On Nov. 23-24, more than 200 alumni, parents and friends of the college attended the 150th anniversary celebration of the Augustana Symphonic Band (ASB). Participants came to campus from as far away as British Columbia; Washington, D.C.; the Netherlands; Dallas; Colorado; and California.
