Are you where you thought you'd be four years ago?
Not at all. Back in high school, I was pretty shy and had no idea where I wanted to go in life. But in coming to Augie, I have made many strides. I am the president of my fraternity, involved in a variety of campus-wide events, and through the help of the great business and accounting departments, I have learned what I want to do post-graduation. My experience at Augie has allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and to develop into who I am today.
What did you learn about yourself in these past four years that surprised you?
I have learned the importance of hard work and determination. You can truly accomplish anything that you put your mind to.
A peak experience?
My peak experience would definitely be my study abroad trip to Brazil. It is awesome that Augie provides the opportunity for its students to take advantage of these trips. In going to Brazil, we were immersed in an amazing cultural experience that many people will have difficulty finding elsewhere in their lives. The trip has helped me to step back and enjoy the little things in life.
Who helped you get to where you are now?
The key source of my help would definitely be my family. I have always been very close with them, and their support and advice has continually helped me to grow throughout my college experience. In addition, I would say that my fraternity brothers and my amazing professors have all helped tremendously in helping to shape the course of my life.
Advice for this fall's incoming class (Class of 2016)?
Take advantage of each opportunity you are presented with. Whether it is clubs, intramurals, networking, etc., it is always best to keep an open mind and give it a shot. These four years are going to be the best of your life, but they unfortunately will be over before you know it. Take time to enjoy every day, and make the best of each experience!
