Why did you choose to attend Augustana?
I looked at Augustana because I heard they had a great music program (which we do), and when I visited, I fell in love with the campus!
Are you where you thought you’d be four years ago?
No. Four years ago, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, and I've definitely changed a lot over the years.
Who helped you get to where you are now?
My parents have always been supportive of me, and I know I wouldn't be here without them. They always encouraged me to try my best and have been a huge help financially.
A peak experience?
I had a great experience taking a tour of Germany with the Augustana Choir during the spring break of 2012. We had a chance to sing Britten's War Requiem with students at a music school in Germany. We also prepared a concert of our own that we performed in many beautiful (and cold) churches throughout Germany!
How did you use your Augie Choice?
I used Augie Choice to tour Germany with the Augustana Choir, which was amazing.
What did you learn about yourself in these past four years that surprised you?
I was surprised to find out how independent I could be both in my living situation and academically. I learned that once you find something you're interested in, you can be motivated to learn more about it outside the classroom and even pursue it for the rest of your life, which I hope to do.
What will you miss the most?
I’ve met some really great people at Augustana, and it’s nice to know that there are people out there who are as passionate about learning as I am. I will certainly miss them.
Advice for the Class of 2017?
Make the most out of every moment; it goes by SO quickly.
"It has been my great pleasure to work with Brooke as a private voice student for the last four years. While completing a double major in math and psychology, she found time to minor in music. She has been involved in many music ensembles and performed a solo vocal recital her senior year. Always excited about learning and always giving 100 percent to every endeavor, Brooke will represent Augustana well in all her future activities."
