Why Augustana?
I grew up in a town of 800 people so I wanted to attend a smaller college as well. Just like everyone else, I fell in love with Augustana’s campus and just had a gut feeling this was the school I should attend.
Are you where you thought you’d be four years ago?
I did not have an exact idea of where I wanted to be at the end of my college career, but I never imagined I would be involved in so many groups on campus and have such a great support system. I have become more confident and outgoing because of my experiences here and could not be happier with where I am today!
Who helped you get to where you are now?
Every single person who has been a part of my life these past four years has helped me become the person I am today. My family, friends, professors, bosses, roommates and sorority sisters have always been there to support me and encourage me to go beyond my comfort zone.
A peak experience?
One of my favorite memories would be going to Disney World. The entire experience was surreal and going behind the scenes at one of the most magical places on Earth is an experience I will never forget!
What surprised you?
I was surprised when I realized how much of an impact my professors had on my experience at Augustana. Without my professors, I would not have declared an accounting major, become an accounting tutor or gained the passion I have for both of my majors. I never imagined my professors would be the resources I go to for advice on jobs, classes and everything else. My professors have always supported me and pushed me to be where I am today.
How did you use Augie Choice?
I used Augie Choice for my internship at RSM in Davenport, Iowa.
What will you miss the most?
I am going to miss the people who have grown to be such a large part of my life here at Augie. My roommates and close friends have given me some of the best memories here, and I cannot imagine the past four years without them. I know I have made friendships here that will last a lifetime.
Advice for the Class of 2021?
Make the most of every second here because time goes by way too fast! Don’t be afraid to be yourself, and you will find a group of people to help you become an even better version of yourself.
“Amie is a terrific student with a great future ahead of her. She is always upbeat—perhaps that's why she has been one of the most popular accounting tutors we’ve ever had. She is smart, kind, patient and always willing to help. It seems she's always working on some project or activity with all the groups she is involved in. She certainly has made the most of her time at Augustana. I look forward to keeping in touch with Amie as she moves on to a successful career in business and accounting.”
