Why Augustana?
I heard great things about it from family friends. Also because campus is beautiful!
Are you where you thought you’d be four years ago?
Not at all. I started out as a pre-optometry major!
Who helped you get to where you are now?
My family, friends and the accounting department.
A peak experience?
My peak experience was getting a job offer before senior year began. It allowed me to enjoy the time that I had left with all of my friends and to worry a lot less about the future. It was a peak experience because I could feel the stress being lifted off my shoulders, and it was heartwarming to be congratulated by my friends and family.
What surprised you?
That I’m a lot more capable of success than I thought.
How did you use your Augie Choice?
I stayed in the Quad Cities the summer before junior year to work at John Deere.
What will you miss the most?
Naps! And also seeing my friends who live far away. But mostly naps.
Advice for the Class of 2021?
Don't lose sight of why you came to college but also don’t let it control your life. Everything is good in moderation :)
“Amy is a tremendous example of someone who got the most out of her experience in the accounting major at Augustana. She has achieved great success in the classroom and at accounting jobs she completed while in school. Starting with a part-time job at Deere & Company, followed by an internship with Deloitte, her real-world experiences have been rich and rewarding. Her supervisors give her great marks, and it is no wonder Deloitte offered her a full-time job in Chicago. I have immensely enjoyed working with Amy, and I look forward to seeing her accomplish great things as she pursues life in public accounting.”
