Why Augustana?
I knew some great people, whom I looked up to, who went here. I decided to transfer after finishing up at my community college.
Are you where you thought you’d be when you first came to campus?
I actually feel that as a person I’ve grown a lot. This school/community really helped me get out of my comfort zone more than I thought it would.
Who helped you get to where you are now?
My professors. Friends I made in my fraternity, on the track team and in other clubs. They helped by consistently being a source of support if I ever needed help in achieving my goals at Augie.
A peak experience?
I would probably say my first season with the track & field team. Five to six days a week I got to spend time in an amazing program, surrounding myself with amazing people who helped push me to become the best I could be in and out of practice. What made my first season so incredible was thanks to Coach Olsen who has developed such an amazing program where it feels like nothing but a positive atmosphere at practice and meets.
What surprised you?
It has been only two years since I transferred, but I learned that if I continue to associate with the right people who bring out the best in me, I have the opportunity to help bring out the best in others. Overall, I feel that it helps me to do my part to keep this community together.
How did you use Augie Choice?
I used it to cover living expenses over the summer with my internship at Northwestern Mutual.
What will you miss the most?
The amazing and friendly environment this school has to offer. It has been so much fun connecting with the great people on campus.
Advice for the Class of 2021?
Get out of your comfort zone as fast as you can. I believe this will help you connect with so many more people on campus. The four years will probably fly by. So take advantage of every day that you are here.
