Why Augustana?
My mom works here, so I can attend for free. And I had the opportunity to continue my football career.
Are you where you thought you’d be when you first came to campus?
Pretty close. I played football all four years, and I have a job before graduation. Those were two goals coming into college. I didn't know what I wanted to major in coming into college, but I knew I wanted to start working right afterwards.
Who helped you get to where you are now?
Dr. Delaney, Mrs. Marmé, Dr. Tapis and Coach Bell. All of them played significant roles in my college experience and helped me grow into the person I am today. Dr. Delaney was an invaluable resource throughout the hiring process, and I would not have gotten the Internship/job with Deloitte without him.
Peak experience?
Trip to Italy with the football team. Eleven days with your closest friends in one of the most historically significant countries in the world was pretty cool.
What surprised you?
I learned that I like accounting. And I learned that if you drink enough cheap beer, you learn to like cheap beer.
How did you use Augie Choice?
My Italy trip with the football team.
What will you miss the most?
The friends I have made here and seeing them on a regular basis.
Advice for the Class of 2022?
Branch out. Try to make quality relationships with peers and professors. The professors are going to be the ones who get you connections to the workforce of today, but your peers are going to be the connections in the workforce of tomorrow.
“I met Danny when he came to visit Augustana as a prospective high school student. Over the past four years, I have seen him work hard, mature and push himself to excel, both in the classroom and outside. He is somewhat quiet but never withdrawn or aloof. He listens, and he learns. He participates wholeheartedly in all activities. Danny has a quiet self-confidence that is infectious. It has been an absolute pleasure to have known him.”
