Why Augustana?

I chose Augustana because it offered an opportunity to have multiple majors at once. I also wanted a school that had smaller class sizes, where professors were involved with students on an individual, personal level.

Are you where you thought you'd be when you first came to campus?

I am much further along in my life/career than I thought I would be when I came to campus. I had the opportunity to graduate a year early and start my career sooner than expected. I have also changed a lot as a person since coming to campus.

Who helped you get to where you are now?

First and foremost, my family. My parents and my sister have supported me through every decision I have made and encouraged me to dream big. Without their belief in me, I wouldn't have been able to handle the stress of having multiple majors, internships and graduating early.

Thank you to my advisors — Dr. Marty Coe and Professor Mamata Marme. They have supported and encouraged me throughout my time at Augustana and I wouldn’t be where I am without their help.

I also built some great relationships with my professors, who supported me and helped me when times got hard. Dr. Mindy Mahon and Professor Erin Elgin have always been in my corner and are people I look up to. I have had the great pleasure of having several classes with them during my time here.

Peak experience?

My peak experience  was being able to participate in so many activities that I wouldn't have found myself being part of. There are so many cultures present here at Augustana and so many organizations that put on amazing cultural activities. I was able to explore my interest in learning about cultures and have gained a new appreciation and dream of traveling to see the world and what people have to offer.

What surprised you?

I was surprised at the commitment that professors at Augustana have. They are truly invested in your future and dream big WITH you.

How did you use your Augie Choice?

I used my Augie Choice for my finance and data analyst internship at Regal Rexnord. I worked hybrid, so I often commuted to work. It helped cover those travel expenses, meals and some professional clothes.

What will you miss the most?

I will miss the opportunities to try something new or join a new club. I will also miss the great professors and opportunities to gain insight I didn't expect from classes here.

Advice for the Class of 2030?

Have a goal and make an effort to go above and beyond. You can accomplish anything you put your mind to, as long as it's what you really want. There will be times that it gets hard or your goal might even change; don't be afraid of that. Don't forget to live for yourself.

"Sasha is an exceptional student whose academic excellence is matched by her initiative and drive. She not only excels in all her coursework but also actively seeks opportunities to apply what she learns. Her Regal Rexnord internship is a strong example — she successfully utilized skills gained in the classroom while also embracing new challenges and expanding her abilities. Sasha is motivated, capable and forward‑thinking, and I am confident she has a bright future ahead of her."
