Want to become a chapter leader or assist leaders in planning chapter activities? Here’s what to expect:
- Chapter leads plan 4-5 casual events per year to connect area alumni with each other.
- Chapter leaders leverage Facebook and LinkedIn alumni groups to spread the word about events, share Augustana news and create a sense of community between their fellow area alumni.
- Chapters encourage alumni participation by organizing gatherings at popular local venues like breweries, restaurants or community events.
- Chapters work independently, with support from Augustana staff as needed, to create meaningful experiences for fellow alumni.
We're here to help!
The Office of Alumni Engagement is available to provide support to chapter leaders. We can assist by creating registration pages for events and promoting events through email and social media.
Chapter leader FAQ

What types of gatherings work well for chapter events?
Casual, low-key gatherings are ideal. The goal is simply to bring alumni together for a fun and enjoyable experience.
What locations work well?
Breweries, bars and restaurants are popular choices. Many chapters also plan events around existing activities in their area, such as festivals, sports games or community events.
Will there be Augustana College staff support at these events?
Sometimes, but not always. Chapter events are primarily designed to be hosted and organized by alumni.
What kinds of budgetary support do chapters receive?
Plan events that are pay-as-you-go. Chapter leaders are not expected to cover event costs personally.
The Office of Alumni Engagement is also available as a resource when planning events. Contact Erin Williams if you have questions about planning chapter events.
