Viking Connections: Clyde Walter
Clyde Walter is a nonprofit executive leading external relations teams, functions (fundraising, marketing, engagement, public affairs) and growth planning/strategy with The Josselyn Center in Northfield, Ill.
"I'm interested in connecting with students interested in working in the social impact (nonprofit) space, around leadership, external relations, and planning and strategy. I'm eager to encourage emerging professionals toward this powerful work. I'm also able to connect with students around the mental health area, social services more broadly, as well as faith-based admin work.
I'm passionate about social impact work and organizations in addition to helping social impact organizations fulfill their mission, realize their vision, and reach their full potential.
I've been dubbed a nonprofit futurist - someone who sees the potential future for an individual, program, organization, or sector and helps develop that future.
I utilize coaching, leadership development, change management, strategic planning, resource development, dynamic messaging, and creative engagement to drive results. This year I'm establishing a consultancy and my own brand platform in #towardthenext
I give credit often to my Augustana education for developing me, launching me, and leading me toward the places I've been able to go in my life and career."
Graduation year: 2008
Post-grad: Social service administration
Majors: Sociology, music
Campus activities: Choir, Campus Ministries, Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Kappa Delta, Phi Mu Alpha, social justice initiatives, intersectional and emerging initiatives, nonprofit admin work
