"My specialty has gotten highlighted in a way like never before; epidemiology is in our lexicon. The covid-19 pandemic has and continues to effect nearly everyone on earth. Where our society goes from here at all levels - personally, within our communities, and globally - is an ongoing process. Along with us, future generations are tasked to put this experience into perspective and to live, learn, and share the hard lessons we've only begun to understand. Our communities desperately need - as the college has promised they would - those who can critically think and are well-rounded and compassionate.
Personally, I reflect fondly and often on my experiences at Augustana and the leaders and guidance I received. Without their efforts to help hone my many interests, I wouldn't be where I am or in a position to confront the challenges I've faced. I see this as an opportunity to give back and help the next generation to empower/enable those who will continue to shape the world. And part of my interest for this is simply because I love to teach, I loved Augie, and I think people should do what they're passionate about. What a nice opportunity indeed."
