The Augustana faculty trio Tikkun will offer its first world premiere at a concert this Sept. 29. The ensemble takes its name from the Hebrew belief that all humans are called to help heal the world.
Vigil marks year since Mexican students kidnapped
Standing shoulder to shoulder in a circle on the grassy lower quad of Augustana College, nearly 40 students came together Thursday evening to mark the one-year anniversary of the kidnapping of 43 male college students in Guerrero, Mexico.
Augustana to host domestic violence awareness events
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and this year Augustana College is hosting events throughout the month to spread awareness and involve the local community. Each event is geared toward different audiences and is sponsored by Augustana College or one of the many Quad-City organizations dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence.
Pickens '14 showing some serious mussel
Lillian Pickens '14 is an AmeriCorps volunteer with the Upper Tennessee River Roundtable in Abingdon, Va. To help educate people about improving water quality in the river she helps bring freshwater ecology alive by performing as Pearly the Mussel. Pickens was a religion major at Augustana, and as member of Alpha Psi Omega theatre group, she coordinated and performed numerous educational and outreach programs.
Kristy Blue mines for Augustana gold in California
Kristy Lear Blue has joined Augustana in a new position: director of admissions–West Coast. She will lead Augustana’s effort to recruit students in California and other western states. Blue, who has admissions experience at the University of Minnesota, also will work with alumni in California and other western states.

Baity '16 helps lead RI marching band
Senior Dena Baity will begin student teaching in the Rock Island High School band department in mid-November. Baity, who has played the trumpet for the last 11 years, has worked with the marching band since July as they perfect their routine to compete Oct. 24 at the Bands of America Marching Championships Super Regional.
