Frieze Lectures to examine democracy beginning Oct. 24
This year's Frieze Lectures, a partnership between the Rock Island Public Library and the faculty of Augustana College, will include four presentations related to "Democracy in America." The series will wrap up shortly after the Nov. 5 general election, in which voters will elect the President, 34 U.S. Senators and all 435 Members of Congress.

Augustana's John Deere Planetarium and Fryxell Geology Museum host a free open house on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, from 7-8:30 p.m., including indoor and outdoor programs led by planetarium director Dr. Lee Carkner.
Augustana awarded $105,000 to launch business-liberal arts scholars program
Augustana will enroll students in its inaugural Business Education Steeped in the Liberal Arts (BESLA) cohort in fall 2025. Business administration majors enrolling in BESLA will pursue a second major or minor in the traditional liberal arts.

Augustana announces the election of Brent Gwaltney ’84 to the college’s Board of Trustees. Gwaltney has spent the majority of his three-decade career involved in the management, construction, operation, and financing of world-scale petrochemical facilities.

Thousands will gather on campus this weekend, Oct. 4-6, for Augustana’s Homecoming/Family Weekend. Reunion dinners and gatherings; bingo for graduates of the last decade; music recitals and concerts; open houses; a picnic on the Quad; and family programming are planned.
