Required Augie Alerts

What it covers: Significant emergency or dangerous situations (may include Clery Act crimes)

Why: Augie Alerts (emergency notifications) are triggered by an event that's currently occurring on or continuing to threaten the campus.

Where: Applies to situations that occur on our campus

When: Initiated immediately upon confirmation that a dangerous situation or emergency exists or is threatening the immediate well-being of our campus

How: Initiated by Public Safety/police via phone, text, email and website

Required timely warning

What it covers: Narrow focus on Clery Act crimes

Why: Timely warnings are triggered by Clery Act crimes that have occurred on campus but may still represent a serious or continuing threat to the campus community. Factors that will be considered include: (1) the nature of the crime, (2) the continuing danger to the campus community, and (3) the possible risk of compromising law enforcement efforts

Where: Applies to crimes that occur on Augustana's Clery geography

When: Issued as soon as pertinent information is available

How: Initiated by Public Safety/Police via email to all students and employees

Voluntary community safety alert

What it covers: Serious or continuing threats to members of our campus but do not fall under Clery Act crimes

Why: To provide information to the campus community about an incident with tips about how they can protect themselves

Where: Applies to incidents that may occur on or nearby campus

When: Issued as soon as pertinent information is available

How: Initiated by Public Safety/Police via email which can be to all campus OR targeted areas of the campus that are impacted and/or posting notifications on existing public bulletin boards (or other locations)

Voluntary bias incident

What it covers: A bias incident which does not fall under a Clery Act crime

Why: To inform the campus about an incident that is in contrast to the college's values and provide actionable information as needed so students can protect themselves or to prevent the acts from happening again

Where: Applies to incidents that may occur on or nearby campus, or as the Bias Reponse Team deems appropriate to share with the community

When: Issued as soon as pertinent information is available

How: Initiated by Bias Response Team via email to call campus OR targeted emails to areas of the campus that were impacted and/or posting notifications on existing public bulletin boards (or other locations)
