Global Ambassadors welcome international students

From airport arrivals, tracking down luggage and trips to the bank, the Office of International Student and Scholar Services staff have kept on their toes introducing 192 first-year and transfer international students to the Quad-Cities and helping them settle into college life at Augustana College.

Augustana’s seven Global Ambassadors, who are returning international students, will provide mentoring and support to the international students during the two-week orientation before classes begin Sept. 5. Their support continues throughout the year with one-on-one meetings, fun events and other assistance.

Global Ambassadors welcomed international students when they landed at the Quad Cities International Airport. The next day, many students learned how to use their Augie ID to take the Quad Cities MetroLINK bus to Target to buy residence hall essentials and enjoy the in-store Starbucks.
