Student to stay on campus as much as possible until Sept. 28

Sept. 14, 2020

Student are asked to stay on campus, as much as possible, until Sept. 28.

Students can go to restaurants and other public venues only where there are outdoor spaces (and only use those outdoor spaces), while at the same time following the college’s masking and physical-distancing requirements.

The college has added a restriction on students going to The District of downtown Rock Island, because bars there have not shared plans to adequately address the spread of COVID-19.

Students living on campus may leave to visit family but should not visit domestic hot spots or violate other Augustana COVID-response efforts. This means to continue physical distancing, masking, and complying with the Illinois size gathering limit of 50 (whether in Illinois or other states).

If students are found to be traveling off-campus and are not compliant with college guidelines, conduct action will be taken and quarantine may be necessary.

Students should not gather in groups of more than 10 people.

This rule applies to all gatherings that are not sponsored by Augustana College. This 10-person restriction includes gatherings of Augustana students but also gatherings with non-Augustana students. Gatherings are defined as parties, hanging out, or any other groups of individuals.

In short, students should not socialize in groups of more than 10 total people unless at events sponsored by the college where physical distancing and face masks are required.

Limits for the number of guests in residence halls remain in place: No more than one guest in a residence hall room.

The college will continue to monitor student behavior, and violations in residence halls and social gathering of 10 students, either on or off-campus, will result in disciplinary processes along with necessary interim actions that take effect immediately.
