It's On Us initiative

It's on us to recognize non-consensual sex is sexual assault.

It's on us to intervene in situations where consent has not or cannot be given.

It's on us to create a campus culture in which sexual assault is unacceptable.

It's on us to support survivors.

It's on us to do the right thing!

It's On Us is a nationwide initiative of the Civic Nation and U.S. Department of Education. It was started under the Obama administration.

It's On Us encourages people to sign a pledge to help create a culture of consent, bystander intervention and survivor support.

Local and campus resources and people to talk to about sexual assault are available. Plus there's a national helpline for those who have experienced sexual assault and need crisis support; please call National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-HOPE.

Consent discussion guide

There’s one thing you can’t have sex without. It’s consent. If you don’t get it, you don’t get it. Download the discussion guide to talk to your friends and peers about what consent means.

Bystander intervention tips

It’s on all of us to step up and be a part of the solution. Being an active bystander can mean physically intervening in a situation or calling out language that perpetuates rape culture. Download the tip sheet to learn more.

National statistics

Only 20 percent of female student victims, age 18-24, report to law enforcement.

Female students are four times more likely to be a victim of rape or sexual assault than males.

Among college women, nine in 10 victims of sexual assault knew their offender.
