Adam '13 becomes first woman named to the U.S. Paralympic Wheelchair Rugby Team
The U.S. wheelchair rugby team finished with a silver medal in the 2024 Paralympic Games, losing only to Japan during the week's matches. Sarah Adam '13 was a top scorer for the team, netting 14 points.
Go USA! Sarah Adam '13 brought home silver from the 2024 Paralympics this summer in Paris. Adam, the first woman named to the U.S. Paralympic Wheelchair Rugby Team, was one of the team’s top scorers during the games. The U.S. team only lost to Japan during the week-long competition.
Turns out Adam is not the only Viking to earn a medal at the Paralympics. Dave Wrath ’80, longtime Augustana sports information director, contacted Augustana College Magazine to report Mark Whitlock’s medal-winning performances at the 1992 Paralympics in Barcelona, Spain.
Whitlock, a 1993 graduate and three-time letter-winner for the Vikings, won a gold and bronze medal in two swimming relays, according to the Observer.

TIME magazine has selected Dr. Jenn Hintzsche’s at-home insemination kit as one of the Best Inventions of 2024. Her product, called the PherDal Kit, received FDA clearance in December 2023, and in February became the only sterile at-home insemination kit available in the United States.
