Arpilleras at the Center for Visual Culture

Geography of Latin America students visited the Center for Visual Culture to examine the college's collection of Chilean arpilleras. This semester, students are developing an exhibit about the tapestries, which were created by women during the 1970s and show everyday life and opposition to the Pinochet dictatorship. The arpilleras will be on display in the WGSS Lounge (Old Main 311) and students will present their research during Celebration of Learning.
